We lived in the post-war housing development just across the street from the cannery, and the sound of the train at night stopping to pick up produce, the extreme smells of rotting brussels sprouts, still remain in my memory, viscerally. My mother also worked in the shirt factory right next door to our house. I’d also love to know more about the housing development itself, how and why it was built there — in an area that was previously a racetrack? I know it seemed to mainly house working class families. We were one of the two Asian American (Filipino) families living on Anderson St.

Wow Derek – a stop you did not know about? I am honored to be the one to inform you. This is next to what is know the Swift Street Courtyard where Kelly’s French Bakery and West End Tap are today.

A railroad stop in Santa Cruz County I hadn’t found before. I assume this is directly beside the old Wrigley factory? Anyway, this is a great article on a previously unknown stop. Excellent find!
