We tried to go s our it out this last Saturday and started walking down the trail 40 min before sunset and it was raining. We didn’t find it in time.
Can anyone tell me how to find the kiln?

I’m looking for pics and info about equipment used to build the barrels to carry/haul the lime from the lime kilns on Fall Creek trail. I once had a book, a white paperback, that has been lost (I don’t remember the title..maybe?? “Ghost Towns of the SC mountains”). It had lots of info and past and present pics of places in the SC mountains such as “Patchen” on Summit road. I’m particularly looking for pics and info on the the equipment used at the lime kilns. Thank you for your time,
Lara

Hi Amy. There is definitely some truth to the rumor. Here is a link to a 2010 article about it in the Sentinel. Clearly a push was made to deal with the problem at that time. http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/article/ZZ/20100521/NEWS/100528771

On Hilltromper’s website they say this about the Pogonip: “Your mom would tell you to steer clear of anything north of (and including) Fern Trail, since the far reaches of the park are a favorite haunt of heroin dealers. Also, mountain lions have been spotted at Pogonip, so leave the deer costume in the car.

If so, what is being done about it?
