I visited Ano Nuevo SP today with my family. As wre fimisjef our exhilarating hike witnessing the end of Elephant Seal mating season. I spied a bench with Ranger Scilly’s memorial placate that indicated she’d died in lime of duty. Curious to learn more, I found this article online and am grateful for the rememabnce that has gone forward multiple times in her honor. Thanks.

Patty is my sister and when I was notified of her death it was one of those times in your life when you remember where you were and how you felt. Patty, she like Pat, was an inspiration to our entire family of six children. Photos and stories of her teaching the wonders of the natural world were emblematic of her dedication to her chosen career. Patty was and is still an inspiration to many – most certainly me.

I am so glad that there was a memorial to that Ranger. I grew up on the San Mateo coastline and started surfing it in 1963. I became a State Park Ranger and worked the San Mateo Coast Area in the 80’s. So happy when they made that memorial. Way to go!
